A Guide to Holistic Health, Part 1

Here at Caveman Foods, we believe that health is not a one-dimensional aspect of life. While our products focus on what you eat, there is so much more to overall wellness. The three most factors we consider are physical fitness, good dietary choices, and mental wellness. This is what we call “holistic health,” the idea that wellness is an output of everything that you do on a day-to-day basis. Because the aspects of holistic health are codependent on each other, it’s important that you give each attribute the care and discipline it deserves - or else the structure will collapse and it will become more difficult to maintain good health.

Before getting into that, it’s important to recognize that good health is not attained in a day or a week; it is maintained and achieved over a long period of daily effort and self-care. It goes without saying that it isn’t easy! There are lots of both internal and external obstacles.

External obstacles are probably the most easily recognizable. They can be tangible things, such as our job or our day-to-day routine, or they can be intangible, such as things that people say to us that come across as negative or spiteful. Internal obstacles are a bit trickier because they come from within our own psyche; they are typically things that we tell ourselves or limitations that we put on ourselves.

Just like us, each of these obstacles are unique from person to person. While there is no one-size-fits-all solution for dealing with these obstacles, there are healthy tools you can use. This is what leads us to the concept of “holistic health” - by being fully healthy inside and out, we can give ourselves the best chance of working through each of our own personal obstacles.

In this four-part blog series, we’ll be walking you through each of the three facets of holistic health and the steps you can take toward achieving it in your day-to-day routine. Stay tuned for our next piece, where we’ll be focusing on physical fitness, which will be followed by individual blogs on dietary health and mental health. We know a lot of our customers are on the journey to healthier lives and we hope these either reinforce the things you have put in place or inspire you to try new things.
